The 2008 Cox Teen Summit on Internet Safety and Grassroots Advocacy, in collaboration with Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana, was held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the Claiborne Convention Center. The event was attended by 100 teen/students and adult advisors from across the state. John Walsh, host of “America’s Most Wanted,” was the Keynote Speaker, and Jacqueline Vines, Sr. Vice President and General Manager of Cox, Anna Fogle, CEO of Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana, and James D. “Buddy” Caldwell, LA Attorney General, offered words of encouragement, gratitude, and empowerment to all attendees. The adults and teens participated in several sessions designed to educate them on best practices when using the internet, how to stay safe and avoid internet predators, and parental awareness and involvement.
