In June 2005, the YouWho Coalition and the Louisiana Alliance for Children and Families announced their merger into the Louisiana Partnership for Children and Families. The Partnership will be a statewide network of organizations serving children, youth and families focused on public policy and best practices for service delivery. Having incubated the YouWho Coalition during its first two years of existence and served in a leadership role in the Coalition, PCA Louisiana has supported this merger, and will continue to play a vital role within the new group. By having child advocates from across the state joining together under the umbrella of the Partnership, we will have a stronger and louder voice for children to take to policymakers.

Anna Fogle, PCA president and CEO, began serving a one-year term as president of the Greater Baton Rouge Children’s Coalition in January. Under Anna’s guidance, the Coalition held their second annual “Stand Up for Children” Rally on the steps of the State Capitol in April. Anna also represents PCA Louisiana on the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board and the Legislative Task Force of that board.

At the start of the regular legislative session, PCA Louisiana sent a letter to all Louisiana legislators, reminding them of our prevention work and asking them to make children a priority during the session.

Additionally, PCA Louisiana staff and volunteers continued to advance our advocacy efforts in the following ways.
