Blue Ribbon Campaign
The Story Behind The Ribbon
A single blue ribbon was hung on a car antenna by despondent grandmother Bonnie Finney, in memory of Michael Wayne Dickinson. His battered body was found in a weighted toolbox at the bottom of the Dismal Swamp Canal in Virginia on March 9, 1989. Since then, thousands of blue ribbons have been displayed in many ways to call attention to the tens of thousands of abused children.
What You Can Do
Please wear or display your blue ribbon throughout the month of April, which is NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH. Spread the meaning of the ribbon and what it stands for. Let them know what they can do to help a child. Tell everyone - grocery store clerks, neighbors, relatives, pastors, colleagues, babysitters, parents, and elected representatives.
To purchase a ribbon, please see our Company Store. All proceeds help support PCA Louisiana's child abuse prevention programs.
