Welcoming Baby Program                      Sign Up Today!

What is it?
A free home-visitation program designed to provide parenting information, guidance, resources and support to new and expectant parents.

Who can benefit from this program?
All expectant and new parents at Fort Polk. Whether this is the first baby or third of fourth, the Welcoming Baby Program wants to help parents with the unique challenges for military families.

Who conducts the home visits?
Trained non-medical parent assistants with childcare instruction and experience.

What is a home visit like?
Military life affords unique challenges and experiences that may include separation from spouses and immediate family. The parent assistant can help by providing brochures, flyers, and videos as well as emotional support to help families deal with these challenges of caring for a newborn. Questions and concerns the parents may have will be addressed. A list of community resources will be available. Up to four home visits will be made with each parent.

Is there any charge?
These visits are free and are set up at the parents' convenience.

How do I sign up?
